FAMILY PLANNER™ (c) 2009 Dr Jeff Software™ Co. ============ USER'S GUIDE ============ The FAMILY PLANNER™ is useful for keeping track of personal data for all members of a family -- and keeping that data safe by storing it offline, locally to the PC. Additionally, the FAMILY PLANNER(tm) keeps track of family members' scheduled events, classes, appointments, etc. -- and can print individual calendars for each member. This is especially useful for giving each child, or even mom or dad, their own calendar -- in a large print format, to post on a bulletin board or area. BASIC OPERATION The main window ("form") for the FAMILY PLANNER™ opens with a momentary blue title block -- "click to start". All such windows cann be used conventionally: minimize, restore, close, resize, reposition, etc. All operations are based solely on user input -- as there are no online connections for Dr Jeff products (intentionally, for security). User supplied data can be saved and restored at any time via menu commands, and for any number of instances (i.e., any number of files). FORM LAYOUT The main form for FAMILY PLANNER™ is organized into these sections: >Menu bar - standard Windows menus >Data entry area - web-style text entry, plus kid and calendar selection boxes >"ENTER" button - web-style "submit" button >Calendar - with tabs for day, week or month STORING DATA Data is actually stored in a file at the time the "ENTER" button is clicked. Users must click this button to save their data. The name of the data file is selected by the "File/Open" and "File/Save As" menu commands -- last file specified is used. PRINTING CALENDARS All printing is selected under the appropriate menu bar item. Calendars are thus printed by selecting the "Calendar/Print" menu item. A windows standard print dialog box will open first, to support printer selections. ACTIVITIES & EVENTS Children’s "activities" are categorized, and include the following: *Classes – dance, yoga/pilates, music, art *Sports – soccer, basketball, baseball/softball, football, volleyball, swimming, tennis, golf *Dates – play, mommy, daddy *Chores Children’s "events" are categorized, and include the following: *School *Parties *Vacation ==================== ERRORS, BUGS, ISSUES ==================== ERRORS 1. Error message: "missing .dll files" Your PC does NOT have the "Microsoft.NET Framework" adequately installed. 2. "Demo Alert!" messages are not errors. This is to warn you that you are using a "Demo" version, and the operation is not supported. 3. "File Alert!" messages are not errors. This is to report that the "Help" file requested cannot be found in the same folder as the program, or that the data file to be "Opened" is not valid for the specific form. ============ DEMO VERSION ============ The FAMILY PLANNER™ "demo" version is sub-functional. Only a select group of menu commands are enabled; those disabled are indicated via asterisk (*). All other functionality is preserved. Note that data file load/save are disabled. This implies that the program will start in the same null/empty state each time. The real usefulness of all Dr Jeff products is being able to save a user's data -- available only in the "full" product. ============ ***WARNING: THIS "USER GUIDE" FILE NAME SHOULD NOT BE CHANGED (else the file will not be found).
